On Dec 9, 2025, VPH was invited to present high level pitch at the EMA Annual Data forum, on the how digital twins could shape the future trends in evidence generation.
Guided by the Network Data Steering Group 2025-2028 workplan, the EMA Data forum offered insights and initiatives to move towards a data-driven regulatory system. Learning on the plans, as well as sharing our perspectives at the EMA’s Annual Data forum, was an unique opportunity and privilege for the VPH.
In specific, the VPH community directly contributed to the session on “Evidence generation for regulatory decision-making, what if we are only just beginning?”. The session focussed on future trends for evidence generation, through high quality 5-minute pitches on seven themes ranging from patient-generated data, RWD, innovative clinical trial design, synthetic data, digital twins, AI, Digital biomarkers, omics data and modelling and simulation. Collectively, the panel and the EMA forum explored how innovative-advanced methods and new types of data could change medicine regulation an regulatory decision-making.
Uniquely, the DT4PH consortium members were represented in the EMA Annual Data forum: Janaki Raman R, Ph.D from VPH pitched on the use of organ-on-chip, digital twins and synthetic data while Flora Musuamba (U. Namur) pitched for computer modelling and simulation. The regulators were well engaged and appreciated the contributions, during the elaborate discussions.
